Portuguese as a foreign language

Classes at UEL are mostly taught in Portuguese, so it is recommended that students have at least a basic level of Portuguese. Exchange students do not need to present a proficiency certificate.

To assist in preparation, arrival, and during the stay at UEL, Portuguese as a foreign language courses are offered. They vary in content and teaching modality. For students from partner universities, there is an option to take the Portuguese course online in their home country if they wish to improve the language before starting their studies.
